Demand for cellular alarm backup devices is increasing rapidly and IP Alarms have developed a range of wireless alarm communicators for the security, medical and fire alarm monitoring industries.
We had a look at what was currently available on the market, listened to what both installers end users had to say and then set out to build solutions that would fill the feature gap and provide a cost effective alternative.
The main requirement through product development was to ensure that "pay as you go" SIM cards could be used. This would allow our Customers to negotiate the best prices and obtain the best network coverage for their particular area. We also felt that to separate our company from existing providers offering cellular backup services, we could not tie our Customers to any particular wireless network provider. This would allow our Customers the flexibility to easily change Monitoring Companies or Network Companies should they have any reason to do so.
With R&D based in Thailand, IP Alarms are well positioned to take advantage of the huge quantity of cellular GSM products that are manufactured in China. It took 3 years of testing samples from all the major manufacturers to narrow our suppliers down to just a few. Most of the fixed wireless terminals that can be found at very low prices on eBay and similar auction sites are not suitable for alarm monitoring. Communication with PSTN based alarm receivers over a GSM network is a fine art and very few have been able to achieve success. We have just supplied one of our manufacturing companies with two alarm receivers for them to carry out extensive in-house testing at two separate locations in different countries. They fly over to Thailand for regular intensive hands on technical sessions under our guidance.
